You're not going to turn a 26P prop. I spin a Mirage +25 pitch at 5000rpms and a hydromotive 4 blade 24P at 4800 rpms.

I turn about 5000 rpm when I'm just over 60 mph with my 22 Scarab 350 mag. That's with a 23p prop.

Yeah I see you running a 23p or a 24p max, without some high horse power you'll never spin a 26p. I run a 26p on my 21ft scarab and I have a tough time spinning it with almost 600hp. The other thing is an unmodified 454 is more of a lead weight than a power plant. You either need to upgrade some components or even maybe think about a swap for a slightly modified small block.

the problem is that this engine is rated tu run top rpm at 4200 4600, so im over reving at 4800, i think i should increase to a 25 pitch to lower rpms and dont kill my engine. i know it will be more dificult to move a 25 26 pitch, but shouldnt this give me more top speed at lower rpms

You don't have enough power to spin that prop, try maybe a 24p. also prop design has alot to do with how you carry speed. Now when I run a labed prop I cant get my boat enough out of the water to run the speeds I wan't. I would stay between 22p-24p but try different styles, and blade numbers.

Hi everyone, I just purchased a 1987 Scrab1 21ft. Has a brand new 350 crate motor in it. I think everything is stock. What prop should I be running to get the most speed? Also should I be concerned it has a Merc Alpha One in it? I hear some good and some bad about these drives. Any help would be great! Thx.
