Scarab III X dimension
anybody ever try moving up the X dim on a Scarab III? I am getting ready to cut the holes in my transom and was thinking of moving them up an inch or two. Mine is a stock 89 and was hoping to squeeze a mph or two out of it after putting a fresh transom in it. any thoughts?

Im pretty sure the older scarabs had quite a bit of hook in them. With the props out today, I would think you would see a nice increase in mph, and not have issues carrying the bow or planing.
Is yours a TRS or bravo boat? If its a bravo I'd say just go with shorties, but if I remember right you had TRS on that thing.

Mines a Bravo boat, I was thinking of going up two inches. I am sure it is pretty deep as it is.

Actually i havnt posted any pics yet but i will do a thread on it when im done. My boat had stock 365 Mags and i bumped them up a bit with Air-gap intakes, cams, carbs, exhaust and roller valvetrain. I am only looking for about 450-475 hp out of them. Its a great boat and has never given me any trouble so i'd like to keep it that way, I would like to keep it relativly stock or close to it. This thing is my Griswold family truckster of the water

There is no hook in the scarab III hull. I have been here for a while and keep hearing this. Any one else with a Scarab III please check your hull and you will see I am right. I have an 87 and I have checked it several times, mostly when I read a post that states it does. I see no hook at all. I have TRS and the X dimention seems high. I never measured it but my boat will not get out of the water with a three blade. I run four blade bravo ones and it pops right out of the water. With stock 370s it runs 62.5 on gps. Looks like I am checking my bottom again!
