No #'s on a Scarab 38 kv Value???

I 'm looking at what looks like an early 82-84 Scarab 38KV. The guy who has it bought it last Nov in San Diego. No #'s on transom or under rub rail. CA dmv issued registration to this boat as a 36' special construction. Per CA DMV this means it was home made or no numbers could be located. The boat is white with a blue stripe around the waterline. So is this boat worth anything without a number that comes back to a wellcraft? Is it possible someone made thier own Scarab? Any thoughts? My $$ membership just expired so I cannot post pics.

A larry smith would not have cabin space inside, right? It appears to have the original seats-double wide captians chair in front. I am waiting on pics to be sent. I think he is going to want around 7 or 8K. TRS drives and engines, wiring harnesses are out of the boat, it needs a new dash/interior. The drives are supposed to be good, engines need to be overhauled. Gellcoat on top cracked. Hull is said to be solid with no rot. Sounds like it could be in need a a fresh paint job. The trailer needs a little work.

What do yall think on price based on the above?
