Uh-oh, he's got the disease. I started with a 1987 stand up jet ski, then 1990 sea-doo,1996 sea-doo, 1977 19.5 ft witchcraft, 1995 22ft Scarab, 1993 31' Scarab, 1998 38'Scarab. U see there is a pattern. I wish I was satisfied with my 31' it was a great boat, I could take it anywhere, could handle the ocean, was towable with my old PSD Excursion. I could park it at Havasy Landing to go gambling and I could sleep on it. I looked at a P29 in September of 2001 and loved it. The cabin was just a little too small (4' headroom). That's why I went with a 31'(4'6" headroom). I love my 38' obviously because of the graffics and the ride. But look at the 33'. It has plenty of room, you don't need a mac truck to tow and they are
Probably one of the fastest Scarabs made. I would guess that a 502 mag boat goes 75-80 out of the box( please anybody confirm). 500hps or 500 efis probably hit 85+. Just be careful on corners at speed. That is how they roll like Justin did at desert storm (the previous owner of my current boat). The bad thing about stepped hulls. There used to be a P29 in Havasu. But I havent seen it for a couple of years. Love to see one again. See you there if you make it down memorial day. Mike

I Would Definitly Like To Bigger, But Im Afraid That If I Go To Big I Tont Be Able To Go Past Topock Anymore. And I Definitly Have The Bug Started With A 77 Southwind Then Restored And Re Powered It Then Sold It And Bought A Baker Tunnel Hull Then Built The Pump And Built A Blowe Motor For It Then Bought The Scarab And I Like It Alot And Thats Why I Want Another One, What Do You Thind A Clean Scs Would Go For In This Troubled Economy?

Big boats go through Topoc all the time. I used to run my 31' up almost to Needles (although for me there isn't a whole lot to do up there). There are some real shallow areas just at the opening to Lake Havasu on the north end where the river dumps in. It has always been a "be real carfull" situation through there, I just haven't ran up there since I got my new boat (in the last couple of years). I am just discovering how nice it is on the south end of the lake (Havasu Springs). As far as the value of a SCS. A couple years ago a clean 23' was going for $25-30K. A 22' is worth $10-16K now and a 23' will always be a premium above that (although you have to sell to somebody who really knows the difference). Back in 1998 when I bought my 1995 22' Scarab I paid $21,500. At that time a new '98 was going for about $29k (and a 23' I want to say was about $45k). Obviously a huge difference. Good Luck. Mike

$45K is too much. I sold my 1993 2 years ago for $32.5 and it had 502 mags and was in PERFECT mechanical condition, just a little rough in the cosmetic department (paint etc.). I would say, offer $35k and see how they stand. The 1994 lost the anchor locker I believe, which was nice to have up on the bow, but cut into the v-berth headoom.

Acually I just checked that listing. I saw that boat on the trailer there during desert storm. 525 SCs-cool, probably an 80 mph boat with that power. Still in this economy, I have seen rough Cigs for that price, and also the boat brokers are not known for how well they take care of their boats. Good luck
P.S. if you get it- tear those terrible looking SCARAB decals off.

I ve got the same boat you have except I have the 454 competion version (trim tabs, external steering, no ladder, mechanical trim indicaters) I too would like more room inside, but I dont want to go any slower than my SCS ( 71 gps with mods) Love the way these boats handle.
