70's and 80's scarab owners' what are you doing about insurance?
Exactly what the title says! Are you paying the high premium prices for older boats or maybe just insuring for liability only or maybe no insurance at all?
Post moderator: please do not move to insurance forum as this is specific to scarab owners!
Thanks
Jim

I gave up trying.
Most want a boat 10 years or newer, or under 30 feet. The only qoute I got was for $4000 a year and I was lucky to get that. Being in Florida didn't help me at all.
I sent out some emails recently to get some qoutes but NONE and I mean NONE replied.
If anyone wants to get it a try, I have a 38 KV Scarab, RECENT SURVEY at $76,500 STORED INDOORS in a CBS building. 20 years drinving boats, no accidents.
Good Luck!

I have stacy over at wakezone insurance running the numbers. I will let you know what she comes back with. She said with older boats it's not unlikely to pay 5% of the insured value per year!

My wife is my agent. She had a hard time finding anyone to cover me due to age and value. We just happened to try Progressive and their premium was so good I doubled the coverage.
Hope that info helps.
If you want, I can have her run a quote for you. PM me your phone # and I'll have her run your info... that goes for any of you guys on this post, too. Of course, it's prob easier if you call them. I'm not sure if her rates are lower than what you can get by calling direct. She doesn't charge broker fees.
BTW, Jim, your 502s sound GREAT. (saw the youtube clip). I gotta ask - whats your typical GPH with those bad boys?

I cheat and run it through my business as INVENTORY, however if something happened to it I am sure I would be screwed-
I shopped it with a bunch of insurance agents and as soon as you say SCARAB NON FISHING they roll their eyes and jack the rates!!

I tried that angle, no luck! I even showed them the rod holders that I palnned to re-install...wink...wink and still nothing!
I did hear back from Stacy at wakezone - $1042/yr
I am waiting for the details on what that is for coverage exactly!
so those of you that have had no luck finding any decent insurance am I to believe your running with no insurance or maybe just liability?
