Default Subwoofer installation on a 29

I have a 2000 Scarab 29 with the twin 350 MPI's I'm in the process of installing the new stereo system and I was wondering what others with this boat are using for subwoofers? I was going to install two ten inch Alpine Type R subs under the rear seat with sealed cabinets. Is this the type of set up most are running? Has anyone managed to squeeze 12's under there?

Mine has two 12's under the back seat ( I think) they were installed half a$$ed by the previous owner. I won't get around to redoing that until next winter.

Same here, I have two 12inch Punch's under the back seat. Built a small sealed enclosure for each one. There is plenty room.

You wana use whats called a free air marine speaker..That way you can mount it anywhere without the need to build a enclosure for it ...Im using one 10 on my scarab n it sounds great.. I own a car audio store in new jersey and recomend using Memphis audio products...There marine line is bullett proof and backed for 3 yrs..Let me know if you have any questions..609-607-8882

I thought about installing infinite baffle subs but I've never heard a nice sounding one. In my last boat I had the two Type R 10's run by an Alpine PDX1.1000 and it had a lot of punch. I plan on using that amp on whatever I'm running in this boat again. I'd prefer to use 12's if they fit neatly. More cone area the better!

I managed two 12's in sealed custom box on the starboard lower gunwhale area. I wanted to save the under back seat area for storage.
I also built in 2 Hertz 6.5" in the front lower side areas and 4 6.5" in in custom boxes under the back seat area that extend forward, so I could keep the under seat area clear.

Nice install! I had looked at that area as well for a sub cabinet but I can't seem to get the tray out of there without removing the interior of the boat. Good call on the Hertz Audio as well. I have them in a car of mine and they sound great!

+1 on Memphis audio. I can't comment on their new stuff but the quality is high in their history.

Finally finished up the install, I installed two Alpine Type R 12's in 1.1 cubic foot sealed boxes under the back seat. I built them long instead of deep so that I was able to put two additional Optima yellow tops in there as well so that I can play at high volumes for some time before I have to worrk about draining the batteries. I'll post a few pics when I can. One question I had was for the gentleman that is running the Hertz Audio sub. I'm wondering if you were using one of the higher end models with the foam surround and if so how it is holding up in the sunlight.
