What ya need to know - I also have an '89 - white with red trim. It's a heavy boat and needs lots of power. Over the years have run it stock, procharged 454, procharged 502 and now procharged 540. Never ends.

it came stock 454mag bravo about 60mph, there have been a few great updated 28's on here. You can probably find a nice rebuilt 500 efi for it at a good price. good solid boats if they have been high and dry their whole life.

thanks guys for the info this boat has 502 with weiand 6-71 blower making on dyno around 750 hp. Just curious on different things to look for, didn't know if they were common for stess cracks or any other issues to be aware of
thanks again justin

there is a guy at my marina with a 1989 all original with only 78 hours on it. It is straight out of a time capsule.

Great boat, I'm sure you will have fun with it. I bought an 88 Excel this summer, spent all season getting an electrical problem figured out....which turned out to be a faulty kill switch (after I replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotors, coil, and ignigtion).

They are great single engine boats. Post some pics up.

Scarab28, Do you have a 28 Scarab Excell? The Excell was only about 4600lbs with a BB Chevy/Bravo.
I have a 540 (approx 650hp) boat runs about 84-85 depending on conditions /load.

nice boat with good lines but not a boat that you will go fast in. needs alot of horsepower and will be hard on drives. depending on what you are looking for it is a good boat. where did it come from? what power?
