89 Scarab - help with a "Warner" engine hatch lift
Hey guys,
Just looking for some help with this hatch lift.
The Boat is an 89 Scarab Excel 21 and I assume this is an original part.
When the unit is out of the boat the motor works fine when fired on a battery but the whole pole spins? When in the boat it wants to work but seems to bind.
I guess my question is how does this thing work? Is it a screw type? I took everything apart and lubed everything but the same problem is there.
I need to look at it again but Im just wondering if it is possible to access the screw part to clean it up and relube it?
Thanks for the help.

I had the same problem. Got rid of the reverse polarity switch and put a recoil two way rocker swtich. Mounted a reverse polarity solenoid in the bilge. Works like a champ now.
