Scarab 23 scs Speed question
I'm looking at a 1997 Scarab scs and spoke to an owner who lives at 7,000 elevation. The boat has the 454 mag and he stated on a warm day with a Mirage 21P prop it runs 50mph at 4300rpms?? He hasnt owned the boat very long and I am thinking it should tach higher with a 21P even with elevation, no? Anyone run their scs at elevation to give me a comparison? Thank you

I don't think he is. He bought the boat to flip and says it has "about" 450hrs but no hour meter. I'm thinking maybe they never reworked the heads and the motor is in need of a refresh? In theory it could be pig rich from the elevation but with that small of a pitch I still think it would turn more rpm's

1999 Scarab 23 SCS in Dallas.
Kind of like the updated one in Dallas, Texas. Current owner seems to have spent some money on her over the years and is very motivated according to the ad. These are excellent running boats and were laid up custom in California to Team Scarab standards.

He has that thing posted in a ton of places. I reached out to him, no call back yet. I'm thinking the ads with 700hp are prob closer to reality vs the ones saying 500hp. I dont see the bravo one lasting long behind that motor

A few thoughts: He is not properly trimming the boat keeping it to wet, hence lack of rpm: engine is beat, but with decent care the 454 mags live well beyond 450 hrs, verify 1.5 drive ratio, to make sure 21 pitch prop/rpm are being viewed in the proper context. If the boat was bought as a "flipper", and needed a drive, it is possible it ended up with a less than desirable gear ratio?

With tons of luck a Bravo upgrade by IMCO.
Understand Your concern, but I was hoping it would have an adequate IMCO upgrade, due to the "Imco hydraulic steering, beefed up Bravo One drive" comment.
