29 Scarab Repower...trying to get a little more hp
We are back at it!!!!
Replacing the M1 prochargers with M3's. Also, added IMCO SCX uppers with heavy duty IMCO transom assemblies.

Not to mention, last year we blew off a bravo unit at the helmet/transom assembly, photos on the blog. We have a video of the unit failing as well. Was a smooth transition from about 70mph.

Did not come close at all.
Luckily, the lower unit drive shaft stayed inside the transom assembly. Otherwise, it would've been taking on water quickly.
Also, the drive failed directly in front of my house. Got very lucky on that one.

With the M1 superchargers and about 6lbs of boost we were producing 760-770hp per motor. Those ratings were on a shop dyno. Oddly, one motor dynoed at 770, the other at 760. The shop indicated that was simply do to the pull they ran etc., and normal. They are identical 402ci Dart motors, built at the same time with all new components.
However, the motors are back out and at the shop now. We added bigger Prochargers, M3 versions. As well as altered the air inlets for the carb boxes, we have shortened the charged line distance and the number of turns. This is indicated to improve super charger efficiency. We have also increased jetting for the additional charge volume and pressure.
We very well may NOT gain a single horsepower, but it sure is fun playing around. Money...can't take it with you. And the goal of this follow on project is simply to improve mid-range performance. At minimum, we should hit this goal as the CFM from the larger chargers holds a more consistent boost rating within the consumption curve.
