Who out there has 38 avs boats with bigger power
Sold my '99 that had 680hp 572. Bought an 01 with 502 mpis again. Absolutely love these boats but hate factory power in these things. I've seen a few 575sci boats which is cool. Thought I could deal with motors for couple years but think these need to go after summer. So boring it's like an electric golf cart. I don't see how u guys drive these boats with less 550hp. I can't do it lol. Wanting to see what motor combinations the rest of u have done? I'm thinking tall deck naturally aspirated 4.560 bore 4.625 stroke 604, I've already bought heads bb3 extra CNC with T&D shaft rockers. Maybe solid roller .680 .680 254 on 114 lobe sep, 10.5 to 1 comp. with dart intake and quickfuel 1050, shooting for 800 on dyno. Let's here what some of u have done

humpster, You have a 38 AVS?
After talking to a handful of 38 owners about hp to speed figures on the AVS, consensus is that it takes bout 625 - 650 hp per side to run 85 mph.
I was thinking that 800 hp should run better than 92...No?
5050, What did you run with 680 hp per side?

The problem with running big power in the 38ft AVS is the drives, big heavy boat with Bravo's.

we built a 99 with 900s and number 5s it would just break 100 with 4 blade props I think we could do better now with 5 blades. But the boat was sold a couple years ago a haven't seen it since.

Always liked that boat... Still out West somewhere? Had to be a beast... Like Humpster's if those Boyne Thunder pics are any indication!

I have been looking to buy a 38 AVS, but most have the 415 hp mpi engines. I was wondering how they do with so little HP. I guess you all have answered my question before I could ask it.
Thanks
