Unhappy My 34' is finally for sale . . .

I finally made the decision to sell because we just can't take the cabin layout anymore. Looking at some of the newer 38's, I think we'd have more room, be more comfortable and spend more nights out on the water. She has to go before I can step up to a 38'.

I was looking at a 2001, it sure looks comfy. Have any of you put genny's and/or Cruisair in a 38', and are you happy with the cabin layout?

Other than the small cabin, how satisfied were you with your 33'

Re: My 34' is finally for sale . . .

I've been very satisfied with my last 2 boats, both Scarabs. The 28' had more v-Berth in it, but I wanted something with twins and a better ride on the Chesapeake. Jumped to the 34' Scarab Excel, a 1990 model with big blocks and Bravo 1's. It's been very dependable, and a good quality made boat. Rides like my buddies who own 38' Topguns in the bay, because it's a heavy boat.

I put new engines in it after the originals lasted 13 seasons. The only real complaint I have is the cabin. Even though we don't spend a whole lot of time in it, we would do so if it were more comfortable. On the bay here, we run at least 30-45 minutes to our destinations for the day. Because the cabin v-berth is useless, we come home at night.

So that was the reason for my question, to see what 38' owners think of their cabin layouts and if they've added any amenities. Doesn't look like there are too many left, or no owners who like them. Been looking at Topguns and Sonics recently as alternatives.

Hi Keith,
Don't Know If You Remember Me Or Not, But You Were On My Boat, A 38 Scarab A Couple Of Years Ago. My Name Is Tony.
The Cabin Area On My 38 Is Ok. It Has A Easy Accessible Queen Size Berth And Is Actually Comfortable. We Have Stayed Out On It A Few Times, Not Bad. I Added A Tv-vcr Combo And Removed The Half Ass Fridge, Man That Thing Is Heavy!
As Far As The Ride It's Great. Went Through A Couple Of Storms With Her And Was Impressed.
There Is Enough Room In The Bow Area Behind The Storage Chamber In The Nose To Install An Ac Unit. That Is Where Wellcraft Put Them If So Equiped.
Off Shore Performance Has A Real Nice 2002 38 Scarab, But I Am Shore They Want Plenty Of Cake For It!!

Take Care ---tony

Hi Tony!! Yes, I remember. Good to see you're still around and hope all is well. Thanks for the confirmation, I just wasn't sure about the cabin on them or what could be installed (genny, A/C unit). We've been looking at a lot of boats, but nothing decided until the 34 sells. In the meantime, we're boating!! Hope to see you around later this summer.

Re: My 34' is finally for sale . . .

Hey Keith, Wheres that 28 you had. Thats the Hull i would love to find. Im looking to Rig a 26-28ft for Pleasure Use. I already have the BBC @ 650HP and a XR Drive. Anyone just win the Lotto and Feeling Really Generous with a 26-28 Hull. I'm thinking of making a sign soon, WILL WORK FOR OFFSHORE HULL and standing on the Freeway Onramp in Miami or Naples. Good Luck Keith with the 38 search. I sure wish i had your Interior Issue. Thats one sweet looking boat.

Re: My 34' is finally for sale . . .

Kenny, didn't see this post, I guess auto-email notify must have been on the blink.

The boat was sold to a guy named Jorge, keeps the boat on the South River at Liberty Marina. That's all I know, haven't seen him this summer because I think he stays in that part of the bay. The vinyl was the only thing wrong with it, had a new engine, cabin was fine, hull was fine. Blue and white with a radar arch, great little boat.

Decided to hold on to my 34' at this stage, will probably do vinyl and dash in the next year or two.
