Re: 29scarab wake up call!!!
Very fast 29 Scarab for sale in Classifieds.
http://server1.offshoreonly.com/geoc...php?a=2&b=2613
This is a VERY fast boat with the blower motors and blackhawk drives. All fresh water use. Someone looking for a 29 Scarab should jump on this boat.
A lot of money was spent on building these motors.

Re: 29scarab wake up call!!!
Merc does not make small block blower motors. Only blocks were used. All new premium internals with aluminum heads and EMI exhaust. Low boost with this setup provides good reliable power. You might be able to buy this boat without power and add your own stock 350's but you would only be in the mid 70's range in speed.
Low boost motors built correctly can last a long time, just look at merc 525sc's. Solid internals, good fuel pressure and low boost add up to reliability.
If you are in the market for a 29 Scarab you should check this one out.

Re: 29scarab wake up call!!!
Would like to know the secret of getting a '29 Scarab in the 70's or even high 60's. Most I can get out of mine on GPS is 66.7 with 1/2 a tank of fuel and only myself on board. It is a 2000 with t/350's and only 38 original hours. Tried labbed 25's Mirage plus with no difference and now running stock 23's for my best time. I'm reading where some guys are running low 70's and wondering can they share the secret or do I just have a slow one ?? Will listen to any and all advice !!
thx.
thx.

Mine ran 69.4 out of the box on a GPS with nothing but ballanced 23 mirage plus props. Ohio elevation in the river. Is yours a alpha boat or bravo boat? Mine is a bravo. added nose cones and stainless marine headers, no change. Sent the props to Darin for his magic and have seen a best of 71.3 gps with no fuel and one person. Are you trimming yours up? How much? Mine needs a lot of trim to get the last 3-4 mph.

Re: 29scarab wake up call!!!
i run mine at 5000 rpm's with myself and a passenger and 1/2 tank of fuel (50 gals) at sea level salt water...best yet on a GPS trimmed to just under trailer mode 68.7...but its a consistent 67 mph with 2 people reguardless of amount of fuel...i tried to keep between 1/2 and full because it rides much nicer

Re: 29scarab wake up call!!!
As soon as I get on top I press the button as hard as I can and when I am at top speed, I cheat and press trailer button while I have trim button pressed to get a little more. I'm running Bravo 1 performance (performance is written on the outdrives, my other Bravo 1 in my other boat, '23 Excalibur did not have performance writtn on them and I don't know the difference.) My 25's were labbed by Throttle up and that's where I am.----slow.
