Post your email address and I have some wiring diagrams you can use to help figure some of it out. Many of the wire colors are kind of standardized. Wally and others are very helpful.
I am an Electrical Engineer for NASA (don't know if that's good or bad nowadays) and may be able to help with specific questions. Please mention OSO in your subject line of any emails.

I rewired my 1979 377 about 16 years ago; just bought an '83 a few days ago, looking forward to bringing it back to original condition, but will probably upgrade to wiring to a better standard and strengthen up the boat in a few places.

Not that this is any help, but All my wires behind the dash are orange . I am hoping I sell the boat before I get to that project?? I always leave my electrical work to my best friend (electrical guru) and my step uncle (controls engineer). by the way they did not wire my scarab with orange wires, that is the way it was when i bought it.
sorry for your trouble I know how fustrating wiring can be. I wish you luck!!!!!
