Pachanga 22 real gps top speeds
20 years ago and before gps speedos, I had a 22' with stock300 prop hp/454 and 1.32/1 alpha drive spinning a 21'cleaver. Speedo said 65-67 @4600-4700rpms.Then I repowered to a high performance 454 to turn a 21cleaver 5000-5100. Speedo said 70mph. I wonder how fast was I really going in both cases. Seemed like we were really going fast but probably doing a little less than the old pitot tube speedo was saying? Anyone know what the gps would say today or know the prop slip % to calculate?

I just sold my 87 22 Pachanga last fall. Mine was just like you described, 330 ho 454, 1.32 Alpha, with a 21 p Mirage. Speedo was mid 60's. Gps with one person, 1/4 tank. 60.8
Cool boats. I actually owned two of them. Still have a small block (350 mag 270 hp) powered one that runs a bit faster (62.9) than the 454. I think the additional weight of the big block overcame the extra 60 hp.

Thanks for the speeds but seems to me the extra 60 more hp should more than make up for the extra 300lbs onboard if your 454 was running 100%. 3 mph slower with the 330/300 prop hp vs the 270/240 prop hp?
