GM's Engine Oil Supplement

This is likely old news to most, but I discovered that General Motors has discontinued sell of its Engine Oil Supplement, EOS. This had a high moly content used for engine assembly, that I liked to...

Re: Pipe thread sealant?

I am a steamfitter by trade, and have been in the piping business, for 35 years. Pipe dope is actually designed to be a thread lubricant, not a sealer, although some do help after they set up. The...

Re: check my engine builders cam choice

nocigerette,
Do what Kaama suggested and call Marine Kinetics, aka Bob Madera, 586-772-2395. Tell him about the bind that you are in. He may or may not be able to regrind that existing cam. Make...

Re: EMI or lightning headers?

I sold my EMI's and installed Lightnings. The EMI is much better than stock, however I think anything the EMI's can do the Lightnings can do better because it is a true header. The fit and finish are...

Re: Looking for performance exhaust/headers..source?

If you go with the EMI Thunders spend the extra money and get the stainless risers and not the standard cast. They are less restrictive.

Re: Cam Selection Help

The engine you are building is very similar to mine. Mine started as a Mark IV 330 HP. I am running 9.0:1 compression, 049 heads with the big valves installed, an air gap manifold with 800 CFM...

Re: Preparing to build a 502

Century,
A couple of suggestions. If you know nothing about this and you want ultra reliable, don't have "your friends" build your engine. They will not be your friends after the project is...

Re: 454 parts selection ??'s

The Valvoline Racing oil recommendation is only partly correct. The Valvoline Racing that comes right off the shelf is not the stuff you want. The "good stuff" you usually have to order because it is...

Re: 454 parts selection ??'s

Check my first post on this thread. Call Bob Madera at Marine Kinetics, 586-654-8583 and do it right the first time. Also, take this important advice, change to a roller cam. With the poor quality of...

Re: What's the BEST PROP Agressor 2001 HP500

Lets keep in mind there that the Agressor is a light narrow boat that responds very well to a bow lifting prop. For years they came from the factory with Mirage 3 blades on them when other style...

Re: Guesstimates on 502MPI 415HP gain over 330HP

I agree with noboat, I think you will be lucky to see 63MPH. That is if you are really dialed in with the 330HP right now. Again, it will very much vary on the hull, weight, and prop you are running...

Re: new member new ride

Before you start putting a blower on that thing, maybe you should think about some hydraulic steering. A 7 ft. beam boat can get exciting over 70 MPH. Boats like this are a lot of fun to drive, but...

Re: new member new ride

Does that boat have some high bolster seats in it? I think I know the boat. It was owned by a guy in Chestefield Twp. MI.
It got used very little and stayed right on the Salt River.

Re: To choke or not choke?

carpman,
I'm on Anchor Bay, and have not run a choke in about 10 years. Just like the others said, pump the throttle 3-4 times and it should start right up. You may have to play with the throttle...

Re: Changing to Holley

I don't want to keep sounding negative, but an 850 CFM is a little large for your engine. You may not like throttle response. A 750 or 800 at the largest would work a lot better.

Re: Roller cams, cons.....pros???

cstraub or anyone else,
Why do roller lifters take such a beating at low RPM? Are you saying it is a lack of oil pressure, or what is the reason?

Re: Changing to Holley

I agree, if you have a spread bore manifold, have the Q-jet rebuillt, and get it set up correctly for your engine. The q-jet will idle well and milage is great. Just to change to a Holley for the...

Re: What's the BEST PROP Agressor 2001 HP500

Try a 27 Mirage Plus. I have tried 4 blades on my Rocket and it gives it too much stern lift. This size Sunsation seems to like 3 blade props better. Also you need to get your RPM up around 5200 I...

Re: Holley jetting questions

If you want to have better fuel economy and still decent performance with a 330 I would suggest a 750 CFM Q-jet. The small primaries are very good at cruising RPM and idle. Also I think you are...
