Re: 1986 Merc 350 (260HP) to 300-310 HP HELP

The 262H grind is bigger than the 300HP mercruiser cam. I don't have access to a dyno and in that range, we don't really need it. Sitting on the boat and doing sea trials, the feel on the throttle...

Re: 1986 Merc 350 (260HP) to 300-310 HP HELP

I did this for a friend, I put in a comp cam kit CCA-K12-236-3 and a fresh engine. Works like a charm and nothing is giving it away. No need for anything else but to rejet the carb. Best buy for the...

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.

Amen. I agree 100% with you. Anything made of plastic, fiberglass or metal can be replaced. It may be annoying on the spot but make for funny story later.

Re: Need spaekers, Help

I used to have the expensive name-brand one but found that they don't last any longer.(3-4 years) I got on e-bay and bought a few PYLE amplifiers (1000W and 500W) and speakers(2 X 5.5" + 2 X 6"X9" +...

Re: Pumping Gas Tanks Dry

Personnaly, I keep mine full to prevent condensation and/or corrosion but it's just me. I fill it up with supreme and gas stabilazer and Bob's my uncle.

Re: 496 HO not starting any ideas

Rick, the starter is aft under the stbd side exhaust manifold by your bellhousing. So yes you should be able to get at it (might [will] get some scratch on your arm). if you go in between both...

Re: Braille Batteries

Might be able to start my engine once or twice if I don't turn on the tunes. I'll keep my Optima marine batteries in the boat. Sure nice to loose weigh but I rather have the certainty of being able...

Re: 496 HO not starting any ideas

Since you checked the battery, I'd check the power cable connection on your starter and also the ground cable from the engine to the battery. There might be some corrosion in between the starter and...

Re: poll, how fast will my chevelle be with the new power?

On this I'm thing 13.5 - 13.8 but I fully agree with SB that it sure is a nice setup for a NOS cheater system (150hp-250hp) and the best thing is that you can enjoy the car everyday and going out for...

Re: Engine Backfire

How many hours on the engine? I had to trouble shoot an engine this summer that was doing pretty much the same thing. So I ran it at idle and pulled the spark plug wire off the distributor one at a...

Re: poll, how fast will my chevelle be with the new power?

Did I mention the "rock crusher" anywhere? Didn't think so. A semi-auto is the way to go. A bone stock with cam, intake, carb and probably an accel ignition? Doesn't sound too stock for me but...

Re: poll, how fast will my chevelle be with the new power?

Beg your pardon buddy but there's not a chance of this happening anytime soon. The LS6 was able to break the 13 barrier and that was an 11:1, square port, 400 turbo trans with 4.10 rear end gear. ...

Re: 241 Libby -Engine Misses - Burnt Valve?

OK, did you change your rocker with adjustable one? If you did, I'd check the valve adjustment on your 2 cylinder with the bad plugs. When checking the compression there's not enough oil pressure to...

Re: 241 Libby -Engine Misses - Burnt Valve?

A 460? Probably OMC? If I were you, I'd disconnect the ESA (electronic shift assist) box (black box behind the carb). This was the problem on mine, which had the same symptoms and I blew my engine...

Re: poll, how fast will my chevelle be with the new power?

I'll say mid 13. This is a heavy car and 3.73 are good for street but not enough for the track, the engine won't be able to give his all on quarter mile. Trial it and then consider 4.10 or maybe even...
