You are talking apples and oranges. Pre 496 boats typically had 1.50:1 drives. The 496 boats had/have 1.65:1 drives, hence the higher pitch props.

Spec sheets for the sport boats (42', 38', 35' and 29') says they all used the same tank and its a 13 gallon freshwater tank. At 8 lb per gallon, that's 104 lbs, or about the same as one extra small...
