I'm not sure if we are talking about the same tool. The tool I'm taking about is just a plate the the cable slides into a slot on the outside of the transome. Not the tool that is used in the engine...

Can someone tell me the thickness of the plate that goes on the lower unit to adjust the shift cable with the drive off? I figured I can make one cheap.
