Looks like the strong SE wind melted/pushed all the ice North west-ish. Pretty much done, mostly all open water now in the main lake. A week or two early this year. Amazing how fast it goes and melts...

6pm 3/31/09, getting to be miles of open water around Dome. Still heading south slowly. N wind easing up. Still very sunny and warm. Another day or two if it stays warm and it should be mostly gone....

Unfortunately I am out in the largest part of the lake where the ice islands are miles x miles in size. If they get going on a windy day, nothing will stop them. You just have to hope they are thin...

Anyone know the condition of the Lake George ice? Lots of very warm days up there lately. It is starting to look kind of dicey. This is early, usually mid-April is the normal ice out time. I'll post...
