Re: quad-rotor 565

I wouldn't want water running through the cooler at idle. My cooler runs off the LWP on the drive, so the faster you go the more water to the cooler. My first blower engine with a cooler was feed via...

Re: quad-rotor 565

I don't baby it. The bmax has held up pretty good. I broke a gear in the lower, but thats it. I can live with one broken gear every year or two.
Especially when its under 3 year warranty.

Re: quad-rotor 565

Breaking the dyno. LOL
My engine builder said the same thing. Thats why we never pushed past 1370HP
I adjust my afr in the boat via the EFI computer. This is one of the big advantages for EFI

Re: quad-rotor 565

With that cooler you can run 10# easy, 11# should be OK. I have the older one.

Usually you can run more boost than a roots blower. Roots aren't quite as efficient.

Re: quad-rotor 565

I'm not saying it can't be done, just be careful, and don't exceed 10# on 93 octane. 15# on 112 race gas is a whole different ball game. Race fuel is far superior to av gas. Which intercooler do you...

Re: quad-rotor 565

I'd be carful running 12# boost on 100LL at 8.25:1 ratio. 10#'s is more reasonable. 8#'s for 93 octane. I would lean it out to 12:1 A/F to start with. Are you getting carbon on the transom?

Re: quad-rotor 565

That's probably very safe. Do you get any black crap on the transom? To know if you can go up, we need all the specs on the engine.

Re: quad-rotor 565

My A/F ratio is at 12.5 +/- 0.3
It's somewhat conservative, but I'm not trying to squeeze every last HP out. As long as your at or under 13, I think you'll be OK.

BTW, nothing's safe in a...

Re: quad-rotor 565

In my experience, if you prop for peak torque, you will lose speed rather dramatically. Carbs will work fine, EFI is just better if you can program well.

Re: quad-rotor 565

565ci is more than enough for 1500HP. My Quad rotor 2.3 EFI 540 makes 1370HP at 6300rpm. It's actually hard to make less than 1100HP with the 3.3 quad rotor.

I'm using a callies racemaster crank,...
