I think Merc coolant belongs in Merc closed cooled engines. I would not use anything else.

Mobil-1 15W-50 is what most would agree is a good choice for a 496 if you choose to go fully synthetic. The Mobil-1 filters seem to do a nice job for both marine and auto applications. As far as...
