Correct,too much cubic inches for that side mounted whipple.

i take it your running a 502 mag intake,with the set up we use a merlin big round port head so in this case you wouldnt be able to use your intake..some use a squaree port intake on round port heads...

you would have more torque with the 4.250 and the 454 block..with the rite compo that we do, we are getting a little over 600 ponys from a 496..
