the crower cam saver lifters i talked about sell for about 100 dollars.with today,s cam cores i cringe when someone insists on a flat tappet cam but the crower lifters give you better odds for a good...

mcpro,several people including myself told you not to go with a flat tappet camshaft but you knew better and used it anyway.now you understand why we said to go with a roller instead of a flat...

i find it hard to believe that merc put a non forged piston in a supercharged engine,even the old 365 mag had forged pistons.

i would never put a flat tappet lifter in that engine but if going with hyd roller is not in the budget get the cam saver lifters from crower,use oil with a lot of zink,and add some zddp.make sure...

if this is a new build and detonation did not cause it id check the ring end gaps,probibally not set correctly and the rings were hanging up in the cylinder bore.
