The "flame arrester" is the K&N filter, and the long pipe can only help. You don't need to enclose the carb. I think the extreme velocity hat is the best one because it includes a turning vane, but...

In my first post I refer to checking the MAT or IAT with a scanner and 150F is a real number from a twin engine boat with limited engine compartment ventilation. Engines radiate around 8% of fuel...

If your engine compartment is really well ventilated already then I wouldn't expect raising the hatch to reduce MAT much. A cold air intake may still help since it delivers unmixed...

The ideal setup is what you see on Fountains.

If you are above the rubrail you won't normally pick up water, but anybody that races with a forward facing scoop knows that you eventually get water...
