Forget market reports, guides, auction reports etc. The market changes with every transaction. Advertise it and see what you get for offers. We are witnessing one of the most staggering shifts in the auto industry I have ever seen. It's similar to the almost overnight collapse of the muscle car market in 1971. The difference is that your Excursion will likely never be collectible.
Don't make the mistake of looking at any dealers "trade value".
I'm a dealer myself and I'm at the point where I'm starting to advise people not to get rid of these vehicles right now. In most cases you'll be taking way too much of a hit in depreciation to ever make it up on your next vehicle(unless you buy another Excursion).
Drive it!

I'm starting to think the exact same thing. Just incredible what is happening. Excellent advice/post by the way.

I agree with Chris, and no one doing the math! It frustrates the hell out of me, I show people the numbers all the time. But, Math isn't truthful I guess?? My friend actually wanted to trade his diesel chevy for a gas one... the loss was going to be equivalent to 4 years worth of 5 dollar a gallon diesel, thank got he realized it wasn't worth it.

I wanted to upgrade to a newer duramax this year, and I love the lower prices. The problem is my truck is paid off, and It just seems easier paying for gas than the truck payment.

Everyone dumped their truck/suv at the same time. Flooded the market. It is amazing how predictable, and short sighted people are. Drive less!

If you go out and buy a $7500 used car and spread that cost over 3 years you still lose about $170 / month vs. just driving what you have.

A lot of people do this thinking they are better off but unless you own the truck out right or someone else in your family that doesn't commute can use it and sell their primary ride it always ends up costing you more than what you think you are saving with the higher mileage vehicle.

Sorry for the poor formatting but here are the numbers assuming 25 mpg average on the new car and $3.80 / gal gas:

New car:

Truck Car Both Difference
Payment $600 $400 $1,000
Fuel $165 $38 $55
Insurance $100 $75 $175
Tires $100 $40 $74
Misc $20 $10 $30

Totals $985 $563 $1,334 -$349
Annual $11,820 $6,756 $16,002 -$4,182

Used $7500 car:

Truck Car Both Difference
Payment $600 $208 $808
Fuel $165 $38 $55
Insurance $100 $50 $150
Tires $100 $40 $74
Misc $20 $50 $70

Totals $985 $386 $1,157 -$172
Annual $11,820 $4,636 $13,882 -$2,062

Keep the truck!

Production is to begin immediately on a new Pome-mo-boat. This will be the first stand-up canopy v-bottom boat and of course, will be faster than all pope-mo-catamarans.
