Re: transom thickness
My SSMIII service manual requires transom thickness to be a minimum of 2" and a maximum of 2 1/4".
The surfaces must be parallel within 1/8" measured top to bottom of the cutout hole.
The inside surface must be flat to within 1/8"
The outside surface must be flat to within 1/16"
Transom angle 13 to 16 degrees.
I assume other drives will have similar design requirements.

Thanks for the info. Mine was only an 1 7/8" and the top to bottom surface was not to parallel.
