Default Drive stand project.

A few weeks ago I picked up a couple of speedmaster 3As for my top gun project. Along with the drives I picked up the need for a couple of stands. After reviewing my requirements and doing a couple of rough sketches, this is the design that I came up with. I still need to put on a couple of finnishing touches on the first one before it is ready for paint but the first test fitting went very well. I thought that I would share some of the pictures that I took along the way.

Why dont you just go with the bare metal look. I kinda like the raw finish better than paint.

I do too Jason but if I don`t paint them, I will have the rusty drive stand look before too long.

I`m going to strip the red paint off the drives and repaint them black with new decals. I` pretty sure that I won`t be able to leave the lowers the way they are and not polish them.

Wow, nice work. I was thinking about starting a thread ealier today about drive stands to get some ideas. I want something that doesnt take up much space, and can easily move around smaller drives like X's and XR's and the occasional Alpha.

Nice work Roger. Those look like they will suport the weight of the Top Gun, not just the drives!

Team Baja, I'll try to get a few pics of the drive stand I made out of 2" PVC for a Bravo drive.

I was going to ask if that was aluminum. Not that I know much but I'm told the ability to weld aluminum makes you a stud...
