502 MPI vs. HP 500 EFI Control Module
I am looking to upgrade my 1997 502 MPI engines with HP500 EFI cams, upgraged exhaust and mild head porting. The question is: Do the 502 MPI and HP500 EFI use the same sensors to feel the Engine Control Module? Can I replace my MEFI 1 with a HP500 EFI control module (Not sure what MEFI is used for this engine, anyone know?) and have confidence the program will not cause a meltdown in the engines? This would appear to be more economical than having my processors reprogrammed.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Not sure you really need to replace the module. I just upgraded my '97 502 MPI's with cams, dart heads, exhaust, intake manifold modifications and complete new fuel delivery systems. I sent my MEFI 1's to Tyler Crocket and he remapped them to work with my new combination and new rev limit of 5500. Now I'm making about 540 hp at 5400 with my old MEFI 1 modules....but maybe there are other reasons to switch that I am not aware of....but for me, this combination works great!
