Question IMCO Extreme SC drive....

How much horsepower and torque is an IMCO Extreme SC drive rated for? I know IMCO did some extensive testing and they rated it so many horsepower/torque per weight of the boat for each drive.

Anyone have those figures? I think it was something like 800hp and 740ftlbs of torque with a 5600lbs boat, but I'm not sure.

Thanks,
Mark/KAAMA

I think you might be mixing that up with a b-max. They rate theirs that way, but who was it on this board that was running 700hp through a couple and when one broke was told, "what part of no guarantee do you not understand?"

Kaama,
We rate our SC Drive by Torque to weight ratio! 800ft lbs of torque with the weight of your boat is fine.
We would like to see you shift under 800 rpm's.
As far as the statement that Brad refered to, I we can assure you, that we are here to help if there was a problem!.

Thanks for the responses. I am also checking for my friends boat. He has a 37'7" Wellcraft flat deck "KAAMA SE" with a pair of 509" super charged engines that make 780ftlbs of torque and about 750hp. His boat is made out of Kevlar and weighs about 9500lbs with full tanks.

IMCO,

Any experience with a version of your shorter drive on a Baja, 36 Outlaw? If so how much shorter 1" or 2" & what were the results?

Thanks,
Mark

One more note: If you use a mechanical speedo, you will loose the pick up in the drive when switching to IMCO. they use the speedo port for top cap cooling. You will either have to install a Gps Speedo or go for an external mounted peto tube.

Kamma,
We don't see a problem with your buddies boat and SC drives!.

Mark,
You may want to consider Extension boxes. IMCO NV had a customer who had a 32' with with 600hp's, used 3" Lift boxes and gained 8 mph!.
You can contact them @ 888424-7436 or 702-294-3030

I already have the Stellings extension boxes and that's why I think I am going to need at least the 2" IMCO shorties.
