I am only joking with you guys about putting a zul 800 in it.
It is my kids boat and Phil is putting a stock 496 in it for now maybe next year have zul do some work to it.
When my kid want to go fast he has dads gladiator

your kid must have deep pockets...has he actually done ANY work on HIS new boat? its gonna be a sweet ride when it done. do you think all the mods from the stock hull will hurt the value?

So far it seems to me that the "originality" requirements that have become all the rage with classic cars, have not spilled over to classic boats yet, except maybe the ole mahogany jobs. Looks, condition, and use seem to be all that matters.

Originality won't be a big issue in boats until people start buying them just to put in thier garage and say "look what I own" while never really driving them. We just ain't there yet, and may never be........

What value? These projects are purely for the fun of it, not investments.

One thing anyone who restores that one might want to consider is filling in that vent on the side of the hull, and using vents on the hatch area like the later models (starting in '79 maybe). My buddies is a 77 or '78 and has that low one, and it gets water in it too easily - fresh water no big deal, but around here that sucks with salt...................

The 2 side vents on the older 20's should be open toward the stern. Maybe he put his in facing forward?

No, it's just the fact that they are down so low when the boat is off plane and maneuvering among larger waves, or just sitting (we get big stuff in the Cheesapeake - boats or wind). The wave action alone will bring it right in. No big deal, just something that could be improved upon............
