Coles Pt Poker Run (Potomac River)
I received the following information about a new Poker Run on the Potomac River. Just thought I'd post it fyi...
Here's some information for you. We will use Port Kinsale Marina located just off the Potomac River on the Yeocomico River for the host port, not Coles Point Plantation Marina [ under renovation ] . I've reserved 25 slips for Fri. & Sat. nights, they have elec. & water plus a bath house, swimming pool, restaraunt, & bar. The slips will be $ 1.00 per foot per boat. There is also some free parking areas if anyone brings a motor home to stay in.
The event will begin with a mandatory captains meeting and continental breakfast at 7am at Port Kinsale, where all participates will draw their 1st sealed envelope with their playing card inside.
Next stop will be at Tall Timbers Marina, located 10 miles up river on Herring Creek on the Maryland shore, here we will have a breakfast buffet, bloody mary's, etc. and draw your 2nd card.
From there we move on to Coles Point Marina, which is 7 miles across the river on the Virginia shore for snacks, drinks, relaxtion, and draw your 3rd card.
Next we head down river to where the St. Mary's river connects with the Potomac river. We will go up the St. Mary's to Dennis Point Marina, distance of this leg is about 12 miles, here we will have lunch, drinks, a dip in the pool, or just relax, and draw your 4th card.
The final leg of the event wii be back to Port Kinsale [ approx. 10 miles ] for a buffet dinner, awards banquet, and a live band, and more drinks 'of course'. Here you draw your 5th and final card, and open all 5 and reveal your poker hand, best 5 hands win cash, also, there will be numerous door prizes to be given away.
At each stop on the course, there will be a $ 100.00 cash prize given away. This event will benefit the local volunteer fire station being built as I type this letter.Hopefully this will become an annual event to support our "unsung heros", let's help them, they help us in times of need. Please enter early, only 50 boats will be taken.
ENTRY FEE = $ 200.00, DEADLINE TO ENTER IS MAY 25,2005
MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO CPPR AND MAIL TO 3 WARNER LANE HAGUE, VA. 22469
DATE OF EVENT IS JUNE 25, 2005

I've got a few friends who have weekend houses in that area. I know the area well! Unfortunately, that's the same weekend as the CBPBA Leukemia poker run. I might be interested in this run, but I will wait to see where our run will be heading this year before making up my mind.
