I had a similiar setup on one of my boats, my engine mechanic hated it. It took too long for the oil to heat up, and sometimes it never got hot.

30 GPM is a ton of cooling for the oil. Water will be fire hosing out the dump. Are you using the same cooler you had?

I cant find the original pumps.
If ,im not mistaken he may have been using a 11gpm
flotec.
I just dont like the idea of running plastic housing pumps.

It would be nice to have them setup on a thermostatic control that way you dont have to manualy hit the pump at idle.
The coolers are the ones from the original rigging I
also used them for the pistons combined with canton
oil t-stats.

Do you have oil t-stats?

Make sure you get pumps that are continuously rated.
Most of the pumps you have talked about so far are not meant to be run all day.
It also needs to be self priming and make sure its mounted below the water line, check the max head pumping capacity because the coolers ect. will add back pressure causing the pump to be less efficient.

The first one is continuious rated.

However, If you refer back to the cocktail napkin sketch
the application does not require continuious.
The thru hull pickup will provide a large amount of water
at speed.

See at speed bypass.

I would like to interface a temp controller to trip a relay
that would energize the pump at a given temp level.

Maybe something available in Johnson controls
HVAC application.
