Outboard Skater guys...
I have the 300 ProMaxs on the 24 and they took quite a beating last year. I didn't realize it but its missing some of the rubber that keeps the cowls from moving around and tights them up when you latch it down.
The result of this is having lost one cowl which was recovered, but it snapped the latch off along with a huge chunck of plastic.
The skirt on the other motor came off because it was ziptied on and they broke.
So now I need to get new cowls and one new skirt.
What are my options for this besides merc? Thats almost $5k worth of parts through them!
Do they make an alien cowl for the 300PM or any other aftermarket cowl? What about the skirt? That little tiny piece of plastic is $1500!

Actually the part I need is the lower skirt.. Part number 38 in the picture below.
Merc list price is over $1700 for that stupid little piece of plastic, which is stupid because the larger pan on top is only $900. It fits below the steering wing plate.

1700 for that skirt is nuts! They must know people are cutting them for external steering. Checked with a buddie last night....he thinks he threw his away, had it off for the steering and then sold the boat.
He was not so happy when I told him $1700 for new

Ya I've called the few o/b salvage guys I know and no one has one yet. I think a lot of people toss them not knowing how much they cost.
If I don't come up with one soon, I'll use my other one as a mold and make a fiberglass version of it. I really don't want to though because I already have so much glass work goin right now..
