Default 28 tunnel extension

Has anyone ever run a tunnel extension on a 28. If so what where the pro's and con's. Are there any company's that make one. Thanks

I don't think I have ever seen one but I think that it would add a little more speed. I'm sure you could take your boat to skater and they would install one for you.

I have made engineering models and drawings for a tunnel extension for both a 28 Skater and 30 Motion. We built both and installed them. The 28 Skater had a carbon fiber version and I made an aluminum one for my 30 Motion. We gained maybe 1 mph but it was hard to tell as it was not back to back testing.

a wider tunnel and a tunnel extension would be better...one piece wrap around windshield too...guess a 338 would be the way to go by the time that's all done LOL

seriously tho,

only 1mph??? how much of an extension was it??

Mine will pick up 1 to 2 MPH by dropping the tunnel tab down into the windstream, but if you forget to pull it back up, ... It will do things you dont like.

lighthouse is that a tab or extension???

do you think a wider tab (full tunnel width) would make any difference? would you recommend a tab??? mine does the normal cat "hop" without one it'd be nice to be able to get rid of that LOL

It's was an extension. Yes, very much so, that's what I understand speaking with the larger cat operators. making a large carbon fiber static extension wrapping down the inside of the sponsons that bends by hydraulic rams would be the way to go. We also tossed around a 6"-8" extension on the front of the tunnel. Very interested in seeing the ones Maritime_Eng made, if want to post them, send me a message.

The ones we made were 18in Long and wrapped the entire tunnel. At the rear of the extension we tapered the sides in by 1in per side to increase the compression. It did eliminate almost all of the hop at the slower speeds. If you run a lot at the slower speeds it worked well, but if you are usually running 80+ its not really worth it in my opinion.
