Question 496ho with a Whipple

I have a 2003 Sonic 260 with a 496ho & a Whipple Supercharger installed. Just wondering if anyone else has done this on there boat & what speeds that they are seeing. On GPS I am running 73mph. Does this seem right to you guys?

Sounds like you may be on the rev limiter. I would try a bigger prop, I would expect you to be faster than that.

Know of a guy with a 26 with a 502 mag w/procharger M3 If I remember correctly, standard boost level/pulley, running a 28 B1 and running low 80's in right conditions. He also ran a 28 hydro, but it would blow out alot, however a little faster on top end with the Hydro, holeshot was awful, as was midrange cruise.... in 2' chop it would blowout & fall off plane occasionally under 3000. With the B1 28, no more issues, in fact mid range cruise speed was up with the B1 over the hydro.

i tried a hydro, still hanging on the wall, didn't like it,the prop felt heavy, thats a 29 pitch, spun that 5400 rpm's,best was either a labbed 27 3-blade,6200 rpm's i guess tach only goes to 6 and i was past that or a labbed 28 bravo-1,i don't think the prowlers like hydro's.do you have a boost gauge?i see you have a ? mark after 5 psi.last year i was running a innercooled 250 powercharger over the winter i put a 420 mega-blower on,the block is bored and balanced, heads flowed, bassett headers a couple of 850 holley's,full roller motor.Brian C you didn't say if your exhaust is stock or not,if your putting it in you have to get it out.

Prowler,
I do still have stock exhaust, Whipple said that stock exh. flows pretty well & to not worry about changing it. I am running 5lbs. of boost. I took it out this weekend just to besure that that number was right & it is. I do my boating on the Potomac River in VA. It sounds like your boat is the real deal. I would be happy with just running 80mph. What gear ratio are you running in your lower?
