Any thoughts on this 26 prowler
Hi,
I'm looking at a variety of boats from 26-31ft. I'm thinking about either an older boat with twins (like an early 90s Formula 272/292) or a newer boat with single BBC.
My budget would top out right around $45K.
I've always liked Sonics and happened to see this boat advertised on Yachtworld. The boat is someone closeby so I'm going to take a look this weekend. Anyway know this boat? Is the asking price within reason?
Any general thoughts on 26 Prowlers? I'm looking for something to cruise in the 40s and top out in the mid-60s.

Thanks,
Chuck

You won't go wrong with picking a 26 Sonic. All around great boat! Though not the fastest, it has way more features and cabin room than any other boat in its class. Where else can you get a 26ft with 2 sinks, shower and a head. Plenty of storage and eats up the waves too! I took 3 of my buddies out in 4 footers a couple of weeks ago and they were speachless when we got back. They could not believe how well it ate up the chop. Solid!

I don't know this particular boat but I have been very happy with my 2001 26 prowler. I have the same set up and the only thing I would do different is an HP500 instead of the 502 mag. The boat rides better up in the 50+ mph area. Mine tops out around 62 on GPS. 3000 rpm gets me about 28-30 mph.

50mph cruise speed would be nice.

I usually don't run that fast mostly because I have a 3 year old with me and run with the Bimini top up to protect him from the sun. I will check next time I go out but I think 4500 is around 50mph but I am not positive

I went to see the boat mentioned I mentioned in the first post. Super clean and 75hours.
The only drawback that I could see was that the cockpit is a little tight.

Re: Any thoughts on this 26 prowler
Today I went for a ride in a Ches. power boat club member's 26 prowler. His boat has a 502 with a procharger. Boat has a nice ride and with the extra HP it really flies. I think we hit 75-80mph in a light chop. There's a big difference between 55mph and 75mph!

Re: Any thoughts on this 26 prowler
I didn't get out this weekend so I can not confirm the number I gave for 50 MPH. I looked a many boats in the 24 to 28ft range and for a newer boat the 26 prowler rides better than most, definitely not the fastest but that was not what I was looking for. I had a 21ft that was a white knuckle ride but would beat you to death once it got a little choppy. I bet 75 was interesting in the bay. Good luck and I will try and verify a number this weekend.
