I had a 42 and it was a good boat rode good, the 45 rides better but not much, they do have more grunt in the mid range with the trips but only get 5-6 more mph with same 500/525 2 vs 3 more if you went bigger power. If I ever bought another Sonic I would get a 386 with short stagger 525's should see 80 mph run 87 oct. the cabin is smaller than the 42/45 but still enough room for 4, but the cockpit has more room and it's a little sporty er more ride and 6 mph or so faster than a 42 and the same as 45 with one less, you can get tripps in a 38 but I think it makes the boat as s heavy.

I'll sell my 45

I have had both boats and worked on all the rest of the line. When I get a moment not at work I'll respond better.

I have had a 31 and a 386 on Lake Ontario. Ride is awsome in the rough. There are damn few boats I can't out run in 5'+. 386 has the best cockpit, 42/45 a little bigger cabin. All Sonics are good in rough water. Carrboys 386 is nice and runs 86-91gps depending on load and conditions. I'll let him price it, but he's reasonable in what he wants for it. More so than I would be!

OBTW, you won't find any boats built as well in anywhere near the price range of a Sonic. 3 piece liner construction glassed together, great materials. Most boats aren't glassed together anymore, even expensive ones like formula and I think Donzi.
