1999 SONIC 28 SS
Before I purchased my 28 I called this guy about the boat. It sounded real nice. He put in a roller cam on this boat and it sounds as if it was taken care of. At the time he was asking 34K if I remember. He said he purchased a new boat and needed to get rid of it.

did a search and another search, still not sure just how bad the 26 's porpoiseing problems are. Before I go and buy one. There are none close to me to try, still would like a active thunder first.Hard to pick.I guess the best deal that comes up first.

With the 26 and my 28 its not like you cant get it to stop, you just have to run more tab. I was worried about it also but have found that this problem was slightly blown out of porportion. They do porpoise but like I said, trim it and tab it until it stops.

Thanks, I thought (hoped) you just had to use trim and tabs more. Is a 25 active thunder that much faster with the same power.

Yes, an AT will be faster. I have ridden on a '99 25AT and an '01 26 Sonic. Both with stock 502's the AT ran upper 60's and possibly with a fresh motor it would break 70ish. The Sonic ran 62ish with the same stock 502. The Sonic is now repowered with a 540 and he is breaking 72.

The AT is lighter but manages to keep the drive in the water very well. The Sonic porpoiseing (sp) is managable but is noticable. Both are very good boats.

BTW I am no expert on anything, this is just my.02 from personal experience. I would not hesitate to purchase an AT or Sonic.
