28' butt heavy with big blocks?
Just curious - I've seen a number of pictures of the (now departed) 28' Sonic with twin big blocks. The boats seem to be really tail-heavy, almost like the infamous 32' Fountain.
How is the balance on these boats with twin big blocks? What's the freeboard like at rest; I know a guy that had a 32' Fountain, took wave over the stern (which sat about 6 inches above the water) and down she went. Obviously, a similar problem with the Sonic would cross it off my potential shopping list.

Just shoppin', not buyin' - yet... (but thanks for the FYI - what's it run with 350's? I know a 28' AT will run mid-high 60's with 350 mags...)

Yea, that thing has got to be one big wake away from sinking. I've had people ask why my 30(which is a 31) sits so low.
Go with a couple of stout small blocks, and wave good bye.

Sonic sits low? Yep, that is why the rear box on Hyperfishing.com comes in so handy. My rear seat backs used to stop waves rolling up over the engine hatch when fishing offshore. Never happens now with the rear box on the swim platform. Oh yeah, I have small block 377 Scorpions, so this behavior with big blocks would be worse.
Of course if you are going 60 MPH plus, no need to worry, as the whole stern lifts up at least a foot when running hard.

How much of a weight difference would you notice if you switched from big blocks to small blocks. Would it be worth selling the 502's I have in there with 60 hrs on them and having small blocks built.

969 for a 377 bravo
so thats about 231 lbs per motor
could save another 80lbs per engine with stainless marine manifolds
so it should like you removing 4 hot chicks off your sunpad
