Might go, depends on weather. We are pretty close (St. Pete). Went last year for first time by water and actually had a good time, way more fun then i thought. Stayed sorta on outskirts away from drunkfest and left right as it was ending to stay out of the mad exit of drunk boaters.
KR1276- is the Marriot on the water and do they have wet slips? we used to stay at Marjorie park but can't get in and looking for a new place to start and end the day at.
The waterway does get a bit interesting. The below is before everyone turned up the channel to the convention center. As soon as I can find it I'll post the picture from a few years ago of a guy trying to fish from a john boat in the middle of the channel- he had quite a suprise when the fleet came around the corner....Gasparilla 2006 038.jpg
Nice looking place, we'll check it out some weekend. The day of Gasparilla we won't venture too far from the boat. We'll be on a friend's boat docked at the convention center.
Now really is there a beer named Urethel Hop-It? Hmmm maybe afterwards...
Although I live in St. Pete , I think we will launch at the Gandy ramp (TPA side) and run around the point, little easier if wind picks up fro the easy late in the day/night.

I thought about that but figured that would be pretty crowded. I haven't used that ramp before and wasn't sure about the parking. I know Ft Desoto has plenty of parking.
