My 33 is uscg documented. If I'm not mistaken its not about Wight its about displacement. But I could be wrong my wife usually tells me I am.

I did and it just had to be longer than 27 or 28 feet - I can't remember. I had a Sharon Chadwick or something like that do it for me. It was a few hundred bucks in fees but she did all the paperwork. She is/was based out of Fort Lauderdale.

Interesting I tried to document my 32 when I had it and got a rejection that it didn't meet displacement requirements... Sucks to have paid the money and get rejected, to much like a lot of first dates LOL

Go to the USCG web site and look for the "simple method" to calculate tonnage. Just about anything over 24 ft qualifies.
