Got to say that I had the pleasure of working on my first Sunsation today. It is Rick32's on the board. It is a 32 Dominator. The rigging is exeptional and even though the boat is said to be light it is quite solid everywere I looked. Let me assure you guys if Rick can break it he will, and so far most of the stuff has been tight. The wireing also has very good attention to detail. Nice work guys you make a great boat.

What I need to know now is does anyone know how to take off the piece of wood that holds in the water tank under the back seat? I have the front piece off but can not seem to get the side piece off. I have to move the battery switches so that I can put in the new Subs and 6X9 speakers under the back seat. The battery cable mounts are screwed in under this piece of wood.

Jon, I have a 2001 32. I have done some stereo work on this boat recently. There have been some small pieces that I've found (although they are screwed in) they are glassed or glued as well. I have not taken the water tank out yet to do any work. I do have plans to install another sub, however; and I am interested in how you make out on this problem as I will come across this myself. I ordered mine with the upgraded Clarion system that came with the amp and sub. I am not happy with the speaker placement from the factory. Have you installed additional 6"speakers higher on the inside of the boat possibly above the rear seat armrest? Literature on my Clarion sub says you are not required to build enclosures. The one that came on my 32 is in a box, under the seat, with no way for the sound to come forward. I was planning to install this one, without a box, on the front of the rear seat enclosure and buy another one and install it on the opposite side in front of the batteries. Sorry I'm not much help about the wood.

The system that we are putting in is simple (at leaste from a stereo guys perspective) There will be under the back seat, a pair of Babb 6X9 speakers and a pair of 10 Clarion subs. The subs and 6X9's will be facing forward under the back seat. The subs will be running free air. I have had them put in enclosures and that is ok but you have to build the correct enclosure and I am not sure what you are talking about when you say that you can not see the sub. It could be in what is called a slot loaded enclosuer were you do not have to see it, but there will be ports some were for the sound to come out. Up front I am going to go with the Calrion Marine Seperates. This way we are not cutting in any new holes in the boat, just the tweeter locations that will be added up in the top of the dash in what I am calling the back of the wind screen. This should give much better imagine and help out with sound quite a bit. As far as the stock system I noticed that there is no baffle on the front speakers. This is a simple and a must fix on any system to make a vast improvement. All you need to do it head to your local stereo store and buy the foam speaker back boxes and put them in. You will notice a HUGE difference in stock. Currently the back wave comes off the speaker and cancels out the sound from the front.

Thanks for the advice on the foam backs I'll check with some shops around here. What I meant by the placement of the sub is that the factory built a separate enclosure for the sub and just dropped it in "loose" to the starboard side of the fresh water tank. NO sound projects forward as it hits the inside of the rear seat base. You can feel bass but not nearly as much as you would when mount the same speaker in a hole in front of the seat base and use the underseat battery and water storage area as an enclosure. BTW I understand Rick32 is going to be in Havasu for the run, I'd like to see his boat if your thru with it by then.

AZ I have to be done with it by then. I am hopeing to finish up on Saturday and then I have another boat to finish up before we head out. Yes you are correct about having that sub under the seat. That is a very poor design. Hopefully you will see Ricks boat and get some ideas as to what you may want to do.

how do the babb speakers sound? they look great but hows the quality? when will the other speaker co. start making a killer looking product. how about MB quart

what wood? are the seats made of wood? also maybe Dave can answer this, what is nitex? how is the hull and deck put together, you guys make a great looking boat just want some detail
