SBI Race - plus Dutch Barges on the Hudson
F.Y.I..
There is much info. available for the Hudson River 400th anniversary on many websites, but if you go to
www.HenryHudson400.com click on "events", scroll down, and it will take you to the info about the Dutch ships coming in and being in the harbor for the ADMIRALS SAIL on the same day as our race.
Our race will start at 12:00 this year to accomodate their event, everyone is working together
Sounds like a big and great event.

from Henry Hudson 400 2009/News......
On August 17, 18 Dutch flat bottom boats left the Dutch port of Harlingen on a Dutch freighter bound for NYC. These historic vessels are direct desdendants of the ships that sailed the Dutch coastlines in the 17th century.
Early on Sept. 8th this fleet of flat bottom boats will sail into New York Harbor to honor the commemoration of Capt. Henry Hudson's legendary 3rd voyage that led him to NY in 1609.
This fleet will remain in NY for 3 weeks.
On Sept. 13, the flat bottom boats will sail up the river as part of New York's first Harbor Day, saluting the Dutch Crown Prince Willem Alexander and Princess Maxima on the riverbank. The fleet will sail up the Hudson River visiting several historic ports, ending in Albany and then being shipped back to the Netherlands on Sept. 20.
End article.....
F.Y.I.
As this was being planned many months ago, SBI was asked by the city of NY, if they could change their race date from Sept. 13th, or instead, work with the Dutch planners and combine the event.
The city of NY backed our decision to work with the Dutch/Hudson event, and our race will happen just prior to their sailing up the Hudson River.
If you go to the DUTCH version of the schedule of events, you will see "powerboat races" listed at noon........and it's the only thing written in English.

Advisory
For anyone running on the Hudson this weekend beware !!!
After a week of heavy winds and rain the Hudson will certainly be an obstacle course of large trees, pilings and anything else that floats off the banks from upriver when the water levels rise..
Becareful!
Have a safe race !

Sorry you could not see the SINCERITY in my post.
And if you think it was a lie, then why was I informed that the Army Corp of Engineers was to be up river doing a sweep to clear the debris?
I don't understand your comment about getting "My Way" ???
Why not come out from hiding behind the screen name and tell me who I am speaking with... ?
Or is it easier to throw your comments anonymously so as to not have people think you're a jack A...?
As you can see I was in Jersey City, and I certainly was not trying to hide... Just ask any of the teams that welcomed me to their pit.
It was a nice venue and great to see some old friends and competitors from many years ago...
I had great concerns over the valid issue of the debris. Not to keep people from running just to advise them to keep a sharper eye out. For those that came in from out of town they had no idea what the high level of water can create on the Hudson...
So who are you ???
