Default Good area to mount a radio

Hey guys,
Where is a good place to mount a stereo and speakers on a 1996 SB 24? I need some tunes while sitting at the dock. I think it would also be a good idea to install a separate battery to power it.

Mine was mounted just thru the cabin door, right side in the triangular section of the box(cabinet) that houses the door for the guages...

1st pic is looking thru the access panel in the cabin and the radio in mine was located to the top right of that pic... The only thing you can see is some of the radio wires hanging. In the second pic, the radio is just inside the door and easily accessible, I could just duck in and operate it while being away from the elements

Thanks Gary,
The access door (s) was one of the places that I was looking at just as you did. I really do not want to cut up anything more then I have to. Inside the cabin with a remote on the outside is what I am looking into.

Did you mount speakers under the rear bench seat or someplace else.

Did you have more than 1 battery?

Thanks, Cordell

In looking at the picture it looks like you might have had trim tab indicators on the other side of the steering wheel. I know I sure miss having the indicators to look at.

Is that a GPS below it?

Also Looks like you had some sort of canvas top.

In the right picture, my radio (you cant see) would be located inside the cabin to the left of that door. Towards the top of the door the cabinet that surrounds the back of the dash has a nice flat tringular area that housed my radio. What you are looking at on the side of the pulpit is my smartcraft monitor, misc switches for bilge, nav, interior lights, cig lighter and hour meter.

Mines mounted under the helm. Two 6" round speakers in the front and two in the back.
