The PWC guys are all getting the blame for bad actions of a few bad ones, but there are some real jerks in regular boats also. I am not a fan of guys who cut in front of me or try to jump my wake when im crusin. last year i was goin in the bay and outa my side view a ski came up and almost T-boned me we stoped yelled for a few seconds, his girl gave us the finger and then a wake hit them and she got drenched!!! we got the last laugh, but it wouldn't have been to pretty if they broadsided us A liscence wont stop stupiditybbut they might learn something in a classroom!!! tripps

man 10 boats I have go some work to do....although my 24 Superboat is everything that I could really want for right now(Y2K would be nice though )
Here is my first...and number 1 and 2 at the dock.

I agree with Tripps, there are always going to be stupid people but at least educating can help somewhat.

In MD if you were born after july 1, 1972 you are required to take a 9 hour boaters safety course put on by the us power squadron. Then you take a test. I took the test when i was 9 and missed 1 question, it is really really simple. As far as rentals go, there is a loophole which allows the rental company to issue a 10 question test that the renter must get 100% correct on, and they will be issued a tempory boaters safety certificate for I think 3 days. But there is no limit on how many times in a row the renter can take that same test. i.e., everyone passes. When I was in high school I worked at a boat and jetski rental outfit in Annapolis, and let me tell you these people have no business on the water. We were allowed to refuse service to anyone we deemed unsafe, but usually they put on their best behavior until you release them out of the boat slip. I remember a couple of rabbi's who took a bunch of kids out on two 19' four winns horizons and totalled both boats by running into each other. Luckily no one was hurt, but it goes to show you that intent is no substitute for experience.

Thanks. I appreciated the input on the y2k last year. It just didn't fit into the budget when I started doing some remodeling on my house. The superboat forum has always been one of my favorites to visit because there is very little bickering and a lot of knowledgable people. Who knows, maybe in a few years....
