Default Local radar run

Hey Guys,

I was "representn" at my local radar run. All though my speed didn't exactly make the headlines, I was happy with it. 78.2 MPH. All the other boats in the single v class had crazy power in them.

Nice Dave . I'm trying a REV4 ( 14 5/8" 4 Blade ) tomorrow for the first time. This is my last try at speed. I see your still consistent which is really a lot better than I can say for myself. I'd kill to hit 77 or 78 again...... if I could.

Dave, what are you running for power/drive/prop?

My 2000 24 has a 454 mag MPI with a Bravo 1 - 1.5 gears, and 25P Mirage plus. I've hit 72 on the gps at just under 5000 rpm and was wondering how much more "stuff" you've got than me to hit the 78 mark.

Nice numbers by the way!!

Hey Bash,

I get a pretty consistant 77-79. I was curious to see if radar read the same as my gps. It did with .2 mph.

JHawk,

I have a 496HO, 28P Bravo 1 prop. Your speed sounds about right. I had a 454 Mag MPI before the 496 and ran 73-74 turning a 26P Bravo. I'd try a Bravo 1 prop, You won't loose any speed and the handling is MUCH better.

Oh, you mean I'd lose that feeling that the boat might do whatever it wanted to do at any time all by itself at that speed? Then what would I do for excitement?

Exactly! My boat chine walked all over with a Mirage +. I couldn't keep it hooked up in rough water.

Man, that boat looks awesome!
All white is the ticket Dave...

I too have been hunting for more speed, I guess it's a sickness...
Last time out I tested a new 4 blade from Turbo. Good prop, but 1-2mph slower than my 28p B1.

I did just received a new 3blade to try that has a bit more diameter than the Merc Mirage. 3 blades are 1-2mph faster on my boat but it's not worth it without the stability.

Hey Bash,
I've heard good things about the Rev 4. They carry heavy boats better than the Trophy because of more blade area. Less Diameter than the Bravo for more speed. I wish Merc made a 27p, I think it would work well on my boat too.
Good Luck and we'll see you Saturday...
