24i/o speeds and hp
What kind of speeds is everyone seeing outta 24s with what power? How fast is 550? 600? 650hp? If this has been done before, sorry but I didn't find it with a search.
I know that 500hp is right around high70s/low80s. Also, that a 24Pantera runs high 80s/low90s with 650. I figure the SB should be a little faster due to less weight... I'm lookin to find out what it takes to run mid 80s whenever conditions are right and am guessing it'd take 575hp to get it there easily any day- seem about right?

Yeah, that sounds about right. I was guessing that to do it every day, no matter the load, it'd take 575 with the straight bottom hull.

My 1997 24' Super ran 75mph with a best of 78 powered by a 415HP/502MagMPI.
T-Mone has a 509cube that dyno'd a bit over 600HP in his 24' Pantera. His boat tops out in the low 80s.
It takes a lot of HP to push these 24'X7' past 80; they kind of hit a wall around 80.

Jeff Croppers brother had an older 24.
Claims it ran 102mph w/ 750hp 540.
There have definitely been a few threads about this subject in the SB and pantera forums.

I'd hate to build the motor with a particular speed in mind and come up short. Also didn't want to go alot bigger than I need to because of the bravo, but it sounds like overkill might be the best approach.
I've read about the 102 boat, but no specifics. Anyone have a clue about what drive was on it, or the setup? I remember asking about it a long time ago in another thread about the fastest in a 24, and this boat coming up.

I think anything over 85 in a 24 is just a bragging rights thing. Possible asking for trouble too.
The boat rides good and is very predictable between 55-65. So, for me, having enough motor to reliably cruise at those speeds and not be using a ton of fuel is where it is at. When conditions where right I could cruise at 60 @ 3800 RPMs. Now if I could of lowered that to 3400, it would of been ideal. That would also mean that my top end would of been somewhere between 80-85 based on a 5000 RPM max. I think a reliable 500HP that will run on 87 octane is perfect for the 24.
