Default Pair of Merc 454 365hp Mark IV blocks $1,900 OBO

Trying to sell these so I can set up my new 502's. Both have around 230 hours. One is disasembled and cleaned for inspection. I droped a valve in one engine and the other runs fine. Both are rebuildable. Looking for $1,900 OBO. I'm switching over all the accessories to a 502. Anything that doesn't fit can go - crank, rods, and oil pan. No warranties express or implied. The heads (aluminum - Pro Comp) will need to be replaced on both engines. The one pictured is the culprit. Will separate.

I would suggest being more clear about what you are selling. You say blocks but then you say one of them runs fine then you say youlll get the oil pan and rods.

Im just saying its confusing aobut what you are selling.

Oh also I see you have a mainfold in one pic.

Thanks, sorry about that, I don't sell a lot of these engine parts. The oil pan, rods, pistons, crank, all the block internals are there. One block does run fine, but after looking at the heads on the bad engine I would not run it again without replacing the heads. I'll say again - the heads are worthless, corroded beyond repair. Basically what I'm doing is buying two 502's and switching over all the accessories. You get the old blocks from the oil pan to the intake manifolds (no valve covers, no carb, and no accessories). I was told the intake manifolds are also very corroded, but that they could put a hard coating on it and be used again.

These engines were represented to me when I bought the boat as having 220 total hours, with just 20 hours on the "rebuild." which is when they added the aluminum heads. I'm not sure what all the did on the "rebuild." Not sure if the block's have ever been bored or if the crank has been turned. If someone is really interested I could find out. They dynoed at 460hp with those heads. I only ran them for 10 hours before the one engine gave.

Since the heads are garbage, you may want to advertise them as short blocks one that will run and the other that needs to be rebuilt.

do these short blocks have forged pistons and crank? If so you are presenting a good deal for the pair at $1700

I'm pretty sure the 1990 mags had forged internals. Buyer will be responsible for verifying.

Old pic I found on OSO when the previous owner had it.
