Right on the block of a 500EFI where the oil filter would go with lines running to the front/top of the motor to a bracket that holds the oil filter. I had concerns about the oil thermostat so before I removed this I bought and entire new unit. I tested both the old and new thermostat and turns out there was nothing wrong with it.
